AHIMA-Approved: 2 CEU (Valid through 4/20/2023)
The “Sepsis Essentials for Clinical Documentation Integrity” course intends to define the terms associated with sepsis, discuss sepsis 2 and sepsis 3 criteria, and apply the information to documentation review and compliant queries.
The education covers SIRS criteria and SOFA scoring. This presentation discusses the sequencing of sepsis codes in situations where there is a complication of a device causing the localized infection that results in sepsis, as well as sequencing for localized infection, sepsis, severe sepsis, and septic shock and the documentation required for clinical validity. Finally, queries are covered with query examples.
